Overview

Business projects must be well-managed to ensure their success. The Associate Project Manager apprenticeship develops individuals who can help achieve this by understanding what needs to be done, how it will be done, how long it will take, and what it will cost.

This standard is ideal for those working on projects across any sector, planning, organising, and coordinating resources to deliver defined outcomes to quality, budget, and time requirements.

End Point Assessment Components

The EPA for Associate Project Manager consists of two assessment methods designed to test knowledge, skills, and behaviours:

1. Project Report, Presentation & Questioning
A 3,500-word written project report, followed by a presentation and questioning session on a work-based project.
  • Duration: 60 minutes (20 min presentation, 40 min questioning)
  • Location: Face-to-face or remote
  • Grading: Pass/Distinction/Fail
2. Professional Discussion
Structured discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence, with a minimum of 6 questions.
  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • Format: Video/Face-to-face
  • Grading: Pass/Distinction/Fail

EPA Roadmap to Success

A clear visual guide showing the complete journey from on-programme learning through to EPA results:

1

On-Programme Learning

Full-time apprentices typically spend 18 months on-programme (before gateway) working towards the occupational standard, with off-the-job training as per current funding rules.

2

Gateway

Apprentice, Employer, and Training Provider sign Good2Go's gateway agreement confirming:

  • Consistently working at or above the level of the occupational standard
  • Achieved English and Maths in line with the Apprenticeship Funding Rules
  • Completed a portfolio of evidence
  • Work-based project scope (500 words or less) based on the required KSBs

The EPAO reviews the work-based project scope for suitability and feeds back (this is not assessed).

Training Provider uploads to ACE360:

  • Proof of Maths & English achievement or exemption
  • Portfolio of evidence
  • Work-based project KSB mapping from the EPA standard, provided in the Toolkit
  • Gateway agreement

EPA period typically lasts 5 months

3

Project Report and Presentation

The apprentice must complete and submit their 3,500-word report by the end of the 12th week of the EPA period. Good2Go will then arrange the Project Presentation & Questioning (presentation 20 minutes, questioning 40 minutes). The apprentice will have a minimum of 2 weeks' notice for their End Point Assessment.
