Supply Chain Warehouse Operative
Develop the skills to work across a variety of warehouse environments, from taking deliveries and storing goods to picking, packing, and safely operating materials handling equipment.
Overview
Warehouse Operatives work across a variety of warehouse environments, with activities including taking deliveries, checking for damaged or missing items, storing goods, moving stock, picking and packing orders, loading goods for dispatch, and maintaining stock records.
The role requires safe use of a range of equipment, machinery, and vehicles as relevant to the setting, and apprentices interact regularly with team leaders, warehouse supervisors, delivery drivers, and customers making collections.
End Point Assessment Components
The EPA for Supply Chain Warehouse Operative consists of two assessment methods designed to test knowledge, skills, and behaviours:
- Duration: 75 minutes
- Location: Workplace
- Grading: Pass/Fail
- Duration: 60 minutes
- Location: Employer's site
- Grading: Pass/Distinction/Fail
What's Assessed in the EPA
The End Point Assessment evaluates apprentices across Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours as defined by the occupational standard:
Knowledge
- Safe driving/operating techniques for materials handling equipment (e.g. counterbalance/reach trucks, powered pallet trucks, order pickers, forklift trucks)
- Safe practice when working at heights
- Stock control, storage, and documentation procedures
- Industry-recognised systems (e.g. Traffic/Warehouse Management Systems)
Skills
- Conduct risk assessments within the working environment, adhering to PPE and COSHH requirements
- Take deliveries, check for damaged/missing items, and store goods correctly
- Pick, pack, and load goods for dispatch to meet customer expectations
- Communicate with others using verbal or written techniques suited to the context
Behaviours
- Demonstrate commitment to workplace health, safety, and wellbeing
- Work flexibly, including shift patterns where required
- Provide a quality service that supports repeat business
- Work under pressure to tight deadlines

On-Programme Learning
Full-time apprentices typically spend 12 months on-programme working towards the occupational standard, with off-the-job training as per current funding rules, while compiling a portfolio of evidence for Gateway.

After 4 Months - Mock EPA for Gap Analysis
Use the observation sheet in the EPA Toolkit to identify areas for training & support.
After 8 Months - Mock EPA for Gap Analysis
Use observation & discussion templates in the EPA toolkits to ensure any gaps from the previous mock have been addressed.
Gateway Signoff
Tri-partite agreement between Apprentice, Trainer, and Employer completing the Gateway Form supplied by Good2Go. All information must be uploaded to ACE360 at this point.
The apprentice has 3 months from gateway signoff to complete all EPA components
EPA Interview & Observation
The Practical Observation lasts 75 minutes and is conducted in the apprentice's normal workplace. The 60-minute Interview with Portfolio of Evidence can take place at the employer's site. Normally conducted on-site, same day for both elements.

EPA Results Released
Results are released on ACE360 to the Training Provider within 5-7 working days of completing all assessment components. Overall EPA grade of Pass, Distinction, or Fail.

Gateway Requirements
Before entering EPA, apprentices must have:
- Completed the on-programme learning and training
- Consistently working at or above the level of the occupational standard
- Compiled a portfolio of evidence
- Tri-partite agreement between Apprentice, Trainer, and Employer
- Portfolio of evidence
- Signed Gateway agreement
